Wordpress [WP] is one of the oldest and most popular blogging platforms available on the internet. If you plan to start a blog and do not want to invest on domain name and hosting space then you can register on wordpress.com and start blogging using a domain - your choice domain name.wordpress.com

However, wordpress.org provides the wordpress platform in a ready to use format. You can download wordpress, and install it on your domain too. Certain C-Panels provide Wordpress as a part of the Fantastico suite. Wordpress.org provides multiple resources on how you can install and start wordpress on your domain.

Once you have added wordpress on your domain, make sure you have made a note of the login username and password in a notepad and saved it at a right location. Also, on your wordpress dashboard you will see a tab called “Users”. Create another user having admin rights, so that in case you loose your main login details, you still have another access option.

Another important point to note is that you should update your wordpress on regular basis. Wordpress comes up with security patches and other features which are bundled in an update. On centre top of your dashboard you will see a message if there is a new update available.

Second most important point to remember is the moderation of comments. Wordpress based sites are prone to attacks like SQL injection through comments. Spammers and hackers leave malicious codes and links on comments, hence all comments with links should not be approved automatically. This is how you will be able to make this change, on your dashboard go to Settings >> Discussion. Here make sure to check the “An administrator must always approve the comment” and “Hold a comment in the queue if it contains 1 or more links.”

Apart from that there are multiple features provided by wordpress, step by step approach is the best approach.
