STANDS4 LLC, the company that operates the popular acronyms and abbreviations online dictionary, today announced it acquired the Abbreviations.com domain name and is relaunching its website under the new identity.

Abbreviations.com is a unique reference resource which focuses entirely on definitions and classifications of short hands such as acronyms, abbreviations and initialisms. It is backed up by a large community of volunteering editors and it provides its users with a diverse disciplines directory, a state of the art meta-search engine and free desktop search tools.

"We couldn't think of a better way to celebrate our 7th anniversary," said Yigal Ben Efraim, founder and CEO of STANDS4 LLC. "2007 is a prime time for us to establish our positioning as the leading abbreviations authority and Abbreviations.com is definitely a prime time domain name: it's easy to memorize, it will do good for our search engine optimizations and it perfectly describes what our company stands for."

As part of the website redesign visitors to http:/www.abbreviations.com will also notice several new services and features such as a natural language measurements conversion tool and calculator, a zip code lookup that features maps from Google and Yahoo and a Web Directory with visual previews to name just a few.
