OpenDNS Selected by Missouri Power Transmission

OpenDNS, the award-winning DNS provider that makes the Internet safer, faster, smarter and more reliable, announced that Missouri Power Transmission has switched to OpenDNS from the DNS service it previously got from its Internet Service Provider (ISP). Missouri Power Transmission is a distributor of power transmission equipment and industrial supplies employing 85 staffers across Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma and North Carolina. OpenDNS is the world's-largest, fastest-growing DNS service.

Missouri Power Transmission network administrators chose to switch to OpenDNS to speed Internet connectivity, protect employees from work-inappropriate content and easily gain insight into DNS trends and overall activity. Other market offerings make claims to do the same but OpenDNS is the only one that offers an entirely free service and has provided all customers 100 percent DNS uptime.

"We switched from our ISPs DNS because OpenDNS lets me block phishing sites and domains of my choice," said Raja Mikkili, IT Manager for Missouri Power Transmission. "Not to mention the large cache that makes Web surfing faster."

Missouri Power Transmission is using all OpenDNS features, including corporate branding of the OpenDNS Guide, or the page seen when someone on its network attempts to visit a Web site that doesn't exist or is otherwise not resolving.

Established in 1970, Missouri Power Transmission has grown to 16 branch and affiliate offices as a result of listening to its customers and a commitment to service excellence. Its sales staff is experienced and intent on building relationships through a problem-solving philosophy: From minimizing downtime to increasing productivity, it has the resources available to help you.

OpenDNS makes the Internet safer, faster, smarter and more reliable. Based in San Francisco, the company operates a large distributed network that powers a new kind of recursive DNS (Domain Name System) service that provides all Internet users increased security, reliability and performance. OpenDNS is thoroughly committed to building and operating the best DNS platform in the world and to improving the Internet. For more information about OpenDNS, please visit:
