To kick off its SedoCares program, leading domain marketplace raises money to provide clean water in Ethiopia

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., August 5, 2008 –- Sedo, the leading online marketplace for buying and selling domain names, today launched SedoCares, an initiative designed to address social and environmental issues that are affecting our world today.  Sedo will kick off the SedoCares program by raising funds for CHF International to construct new wells in Dhabardulel, Ethiopia.  The wells will make accessing clean water easier for the more than 30,000 villagers in Dhabardulel affected by the severe drought occurring in the region.

During the month of August, Sedo will be donating money for every sale that occurs in its marketplace.  Half of the total amount collected at the end of the promotion will be donated toward building wells in Dhabardulel, and the other half will be given at random to a buyer or seller who closed a transaction through Sedo from August 1st, 6 p.m. EST to August 31st, 6 p.m. EST.  Sedo.com currently offers more than 14 million domain names for sale through its marketplace and provides domain brokerage, appraisal and monetization services to its members.
