GoDaddy.com Tops Global SSL Growth

September 21, 2006; 03:11 AM

GoDaddy.com®, the No. 1 registrar of domain names worldwide, announced industry-leading growth in sites secured by their SSL Certificates (www.godaddy.com/gdshop/ssl/ssl.asp).

According to Netcraft®, GoDaddy.com led in Secure Certificate sales during the month of August, adding more than all other public Certificate Authorities and Web hosting companies. The respected industry analyst credits Go Daddy's SSL Certificates with securing 2,221 new Web sites in August. In their hosting infrastructure, Go Daddy® added 923 SSL-enabled sites, nearly double the total of the next-best performers.

An SSL Certificate enables Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption of online transactions and communications. A GoDaddy.com SSL Certificate provides an easy and cost-effective way to protect customer information and build trust.

"SSL certificates are essential in helping e-commerce businesses thrive. The certificates Go Daddy offers are affordable, easy to use and come with 24/7 support,” said Bob Parsons, GoDaddy.com founder and CEO. “Web sites that want to provide secure online communication are able to accomplish it with GoDaddy.com’s cost-effective certificates."

GoDaddy.com is the world's No. 1 domain name registrar. GoDaddy.com is also rated the world's largest hostname provider according to Netcraft®. During the final six months of 2005, The Go Daddy Group registered approximately one-third of all domain names registered in the top five generic top-level domains, or gTLDs, including .com, .net, .org, .biz and .info.
