Leading Service Provider in Belgium Expands Network With Infoblox Appliances for Critical DNS/DHCP Services

December 12, 2006; 02:16 AM
Infoblox Inc., a developer of essential infrastructure for identity-driven networks (IDNs), announced that Belgacom, the leading service provider in Belgium with more than 8 million subscribers to its various fixed line and mobile services, has selected and deployed Infoblox network identity appliances.

Belgacom previously used software running on general-purpose server and operating systems to deliver domain name and dynamic host configuration protocol (DNS/DHCP) services -- two very important building blocks in today's networks. Belgacom selected Infoblox appliances to improve the scalability and reduce the management complexity of the systems that deliver these critical services. Further, Infoblox appliances offer enhanced reliability and security that are key enablers for overall network stability, availability and growth.

With Infoblox, Belgacom migrated to a centrally managed, appliance-based system that has built-in high availability and unique management features to help ensure DNS and DHCP services operate nonstop, keeping the company's network servicing its customers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Commented Werner Verheylewegen, ITN team manager of Belgacom: "With our new Infoblox DNS and DHCP systems, Belgacom customers now benefit from an even higher level of reliability and availability of the network, while we are able to reduce maintenance costs and accommodate future growth. Infoblox's understanding of our business needs, including growth potential, reliability, cost savings and regulatory compliancy pressures, greatly contributed to the success of our deployment."

Further, Belgacom is especially pleased with the delegated administrative views provided via Infoblox's graphical user interface (GUI) that enable Belgacom's helpdesk employees to easily detect, diagnose and quickly solve any network identity service related problems.

Belgacom, which has standardized on Infoblox systems to deliver all its DNS and DHCP services enterprise wide, purchased seven Infoblox appliances running the DNSone package. The appliances are deployed at Belgacom's two primary datacenters in Brussels and Charleroi. For more information about Infoblox products, visit: http://www.infoblox.com/products/.
