LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers has signed three exchanges of letters with country code top level domain operators — including the historic 30th one — at its 30th International Public Meeting in Los Angeles.

“ICANN has made great progress in formalizing its relationship with country-code Top Level Domain operators through the accountability framework program,” said Dr Paul Twomey, ICANN’s President and CEO. “They represent the growing global partnership between ccTLD operators and ICANN.”

The exchange of letters with .SE (The Internet Infrastructure Foundation) of Sweden is the 30 th in this program, with .rs — Serbia, Serbian National Register of Internet Domain Names (RNIDS) and .nz — New Zealand, InternetNZ representing the 31st and 32nd respectively.

The Accountability Framework program provides two mechanisms by which ccTLD managers can formalize their relationship with ICANN. The first is an Accountability Framework document that sets out the obligations of a ccTLD manager and ICANN. It also covers dispute resolution and termination and is designed for ccTLD managers requiring a formal document with ICANN.

The second mechanism is an exchange of letters between ICANN and the ccTLD manager designed for those for whom a simple statement of commitment is more appropriate.

Signed accountability framework and exchange of letters documents can be found at http://www.icann.org/cctlds/agreements.html.
