Two Historic Domains Go Up for Sale: Audio.org & Video.org

July 18, 2008; 03:24 AM

(PRWEB) July 18, 2008 -- Active Internet a leading provider of internet technology services located in Lake Worth, Florida is selling off two of the most coveted domains in history, Audio.org and Video.org.

Active Internet registered the domains more than eleven years ago. "We had hopes of developing them into full web properties featuring rich media content. Unfortunately other company obligations seem to get in the way." Over the years Active Internet has received more than five hundred unsolicited offers for the names. With the recent explosion of video on the internet it seems as though there probably isn't going to be a better time to really consider selling them off.

David Larkin, CTO of Active Internet feels that while they'll be missed, the domains should find a new home and hopefully someone who appreciates their potential. "We'll be sad to see them go. We had some great hopes and dreams for them. But I just don't know when we'll ever be able to get to really do what we'd like to. Hopefully whoever buys them does something great with them".

Video.org alone gets more than 3,500 unique (type-in) visitors a month. That might not sound like a lot when you think about the traffic YouTube.com has, but consider that this is a completely undeveloped domain and these are new visitors month over month.
Video.com (owned by Disney) has just over 7,000 visitors a month and Video.net is less than 1,000. Audio.org is also a domain of great importance as well. While it's not a vertical that's seen staggering growth like online video, music distribution via the internet is becoming more common. Any record label could benefit greatly with the domain by simply building out a promotional vehicle with it. Audio.org is also a property that receives a stream of unique type-in traffic month over month.

"Video.org is one of the most important pieces of internet real-estate, period." Many others in the domain and internet community share the opinion of Sean Sullivan of ClickMedium.com a leading provider of Internet Marketing Solutions in South Florida. The company provides SEO, Pay-Per Click Management, Domain Monetization, Domain Leasing and Brokering services.

"It represents a huge opportunity for a media publisher to snap up a domain name that not only is memorable and very easy to brand but one that comes with a built in audience that can grow exponentially. We are anticipating a huge amount of end user interest in the domain. There are a lot of start-ups that are trying to brand a company with quite often very questionable domain names. Spending millions in marketing without securing a good domain is foolish. I don't think that anyone wants the return of the irrational exuberance of the late nineties but acquiring a high quality domain name is money well spent. Business owners and media companies need to really view domains as "branding assets". You can't re-sell your advertising from a year ago, a domain name you absolutely can."

Click Medium is representing Active Internet in the sale of the domain names.

"Sean has bought and sold domains on our behalf before and we've been very pleased with the results."
