The .ORG Advisory Council Appoints New Worldwide Internet Leaders

RESTON, VA -- 04/02/09 -- .ORG, The Public Interest Registryhttp://pir.org) announced today the appointment of 1 Advisory Council member and the reappointment of 3 current Council members to fill expiring term open seats. The .ORG Advisory Council, created in 2003, was established to solicit input from and be responsive to the needs, concerns, and views of the global Internet community in the management of the .ORG generic Top Level Domain registry. Created to advise on issues ranging from public policy to the introduction of new services, their perspectives, representing the voice of the global noncommercial community, play a vital role in the long-term success of .ORG. (

Returning members include:

-- Ms. Angela Siefer (Social Networking Entrepreneur)
-- Mr. Hans Peter Dittler (Internet Society German Chapter)
-- Mr. Sebastian Ricciardi (Vice President, Internet Society Argentinean
Chapter)

 

The Advisory Council members have been instrumental in advising on issues central to the .ORG community including global outreach, Internet security issues, and key policy initiatives.
