Ad.com Sells for $1.4 Million at Moniker Live Auction

More Than $2.1 Million in Domain Names Sold At TRAFFIC Conference As Investors Bid for Internet Real Estate; Online Auction Continues through May 7

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Confirming growing interest in domains as an established asset class, Moniker® reported today that it sold Ad.com for $1.4 million at its premium live auction at the TRAFFIC Silicon Valley event in Santa Clara, California last Wednesday. The price easily topped the $250-500,000 required opening bid range. Moniker is part of Oversee.net, a technology-based leader in the emerging domain name marketplace, the digital real estate of the Internet.

In total, 91 domains were purchased for $2,133,350 during the live event, producing an impressive 47.6% sell-through rate of names on the block. The average selling price per domain was $23,443. (These results reflect the concluded live auction process and do not yet represent all closed transactions.) A total of 191 premium names were available at the live auction, selected from over 75,000 domain names submitted by sellers interested in leveraging Moniker’s live auction expertise and global client base to sell their names.

Extended Online Auction

Moniker is also hosting an extended online auction in conjunction with the live event, offering thousands of additional names for sale. The online auction started on Wednesday, April 29 at 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time (8:00 p.m. Eastern) and will run for a full week, closing on Thursday, May 7 at 12:15 p.m. Pacific time (3:15 p.m. Eastern).
