Domain Registrar NameCheap Giving Away Free Domains and Even Vacations on Twitter

June 2, 2009; 04:38 AM

(PRWEB) June 2, 2009 -- NameCheap, the domain registrar and web host that launched one of the biggest contests on Twitter, will be launching another contest with free domain names and bigger and more prizes.

This contest, dubbed the NameCheap Travel Twitter Trivia Contest, will ask Twitter users trivia questions about places around the world. Every hour on the hour, NameCheap's Twitterbot will put out a question on Twitter. The first to answer and two at random will win free domain names. Since NameCheap has linked its interface to the Twitter API, the funds for the domains are automatically deposited into the winners' NameCheap accounts.

The top two players to answer the most correctly as well as one person at random win $1,000 towards the vacation of their choice. Three random players will win Canon Powershot D10 cameras.

"We prefer to spend less money in marketing and more money on these contests. Our customers really like them and it's a great way to let others know that we are out there. Aside from just marketing, we use Twitter for basic customer service and customer feedback, so it's a win/win on many levels. The more people play, the bigger and more numerous the prizes get," said Richard Kirkendall, NameCheap's CEO.

To play, simply sign up for Twitter, follow @Namecheap, and then follow the easy setup instructions at NameCheap's website. On Wednesday June 3 at 11 am EST, the questions will begin every hour on the hour for two weeks.

"The funny thing is, the players actually get to know other players in the process," said Michelle Greer, NameCheap's Social Media Strategist. "It's like watching a bunch of regulars and newbies at a Vegas blackjack table or something."

NameCheap was started in 2000 by CEO Richard Kirkendall in Los Angeles, California. Millions of domain names have been registered through the site, making it one of the top five domain registries in the world. Namecheap also offers hosting for businesses, online stores, blogs, and more. Find out more by visiting namecheap.com.
