Sedo's Chief Strategy Officer Matt Bentley Transitions into New Consulting RoleJuly 30, 2008; 06:06 AM
CAMBRIDGE, Mass., July 29, 2008 – Sedo, the leading online marketplace for buying and selling domain names, today announced that after serving a six-year tenure with the company in a variety of senior roles, Sedo's Chief Strategy Officer Matt Bentley will be leaving the company to pursue other opportunities. Effective August 1, 2008, Bentley will transition out of his operational role at Sedo, but will remain close to the company in a non-operative role as Strategic Advisor.
“Together with Sedo’s founders, Matt has played an important role in helping Sedo become the recognized, global domain marketplace leader it is today,” said Tim Schumacher, CEO and co-founder of Sedo. “Matt will no doubt continue to be a tremendous asset to Sedo in his new advisory role. We thank him for his years of dedication and wish him success in his future endeavors.”
Bentley joined Sedo in 2002 as Director of International Operations, and one of the first dozen employees at the company. He played a central role in helping to expand Sedo's global footprint outside of Germany, in particular by launching (together with Sedo Co-founder and President Ulrich Essmann) Sedo's U.S. subsidiary company Sedo.com, LLC in 2004. Bentley served as CEO of Sedo.com for two years before returning to Germany to assume his current role. Bentley also played a key role in shaping Sedo's successful domain parking product, forging one of the industry's first parking partnerships with Google, and managing the launch of Sedo's premium brand for domain professionals, SedoPro.
“It has been an incredibly rewarding experience to participate in Sedo’s worldwide growth and witness the company’s emergence as a dominant player in the market,” said Matt Bentley. “I’m definitely going to miss working with the many great people there, but the time was right for me to find a new challenge. Sedo is a strong organization, and I expect to see the company continue to thrive at the forefront of the domain industry.” About
