Total .VN Domain Name Registration Increases By Nearly 300% from 2005

Dot VN, Inc., the authorized global domain name registrar for the Country of Vietnam, announced that the total number of .vn domain names registered has increased by nearly 300% since October, 2005.

Based on statistics from the Vietnam Network Information Center ("VNNIC"), the administrative entity overseeing the development of the internet in Vietnam, .vn domain name registration grew from 10,592 domains registered by October 1, 2005 to over 30,000 registered domain names as of October 17, 2006. Much of this growth can be attributed to the launch of the 2nd level domain name ".vn" in August of 2006, which provides registrants, worldwide, a choice between .vn and 3rd level domain names such as .com .vn, .net.vn and .org.vn.
