December 20, 2007; 05:53 AM Dot-travel registrar EnCirca (www.encirca.com) announces a surge in new
.travel domain name registrations ahead of the travel registry rule
changes scheduled to take effect on Friday, December 21 at 18:00 EST.
“Companies are deciding to secure the names they are already
authenticated for” says Tom Barrett, President of EnCirca. “On Friday,
all dot-travel domain names become first-come, first-served and will be
available to any travel company”.
This includes nearly 300,000 reserved destination names. Effective with
the new relaxed eligibility policy, Tralliance, the .travel registry is
planning to release thousands of reserved place names, such as cities,
iconic cultural sites and world heritage landmarks.
“EnCirca is the only travel registrar offering pre-registrations for
all available names”, says Barrett. “We will automatically submit
applications to the dot-travel registry once the new rules take effect.”
Travel Companies interested in securing names ahead of the land rush
still have time to become authenticated by Tralliance or their travel
association for dot-travel names. The best way is to provide a website
address demonstrating services for the travel and tourism industry.
Travel companies can request authenticated by visiting www.encirca.com.
Once authenticated, companies then wait until Friday night to apply for
dot-travel domain names. Alternatively, they may pre-register their
desired names and dot travel registrars like EnCirca will automatically
submit the names for them for registration.
“We are also processing last-minute registrations for tourism boards
interested in their destination names”, says Barrett of EnCirca. “This
is a wise move as a lot of our pre-registrations are for reserved
destination names.”
All pre-registrations are priced the same as regular dot-travel registrations at a tax-free $99/year.
To become authenticated and pre-register for dot travel, go to www.encirca.com.
