.ORG Communities, Submit Your Entries for the 14th Annual Webby Awards

.ORG, The Public Interest Registry (www.pir.org), the company behind the .ORG domain name, encourages .ORG community members worldwide to submit their websites for the 14th Annual Webby Awards. In 2009, the .ORG community was well represented at The Webby's with 63 nominations and 26 winners overall, an increase of 37% from 2008.

For 2010, the Webby Awards has added two new categories, Green and Media, both of which are the strengths of the .ORG community. "Most green and environmental initiatives have their home under the .ORG domain space," says Alexa Raad, CEO of .ORG, The Public Interest Registry. "In addition, .ORG websites are some of the most media rich, and technologically advanced websites when it comes to utilizing the best of online media tools and applications to advance their mission."

The Webby Awards, presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, honors excellence on the Internet, including Websites, interactive advertising, online film and video, and mobile websites. The competition is open to all organizations and individuals involved in designing, building, managing, maintaining, marketing or promoting content for business, consumer or general audiences.

"The Webby Awards is a fantastic opportunity for the .ORG community to showcase their achievements through web, interactive, video and mobile content developments," says David-Michel Davies, Executive Director of The Webby Awards. Call for entries for the 14th Annual Webby Awards is now open at www.webbyawards.com. Organizations can get a jumpstart on their submissions with the early bird entry date deadline of October 30, 2009.
