Domain Name Registrar eNom Recognized as One of America's 500 Fastest-Growing Private Companies

August 29, 2006; 05:48 AM

The world's second-largest Internet domain name registrar, eNom, Inc., has been recognized as one of America's 500 fastest-growing private companies by Inc. Magazine.

With 3-year growth of 461% and revenues of $45.5 million, this is eNom's first appearance on the Inc. 500, which released their 25th annual list Wednesday in New York. eNom's ranking is 261.

In its recognition of eNom, Inc. Magazine noted, "The number of registered domain names, currently about 80 million, continues to explode ..." and eNom "offer(s) its clients fast responses and competitive prices."

eNom, Inc. was acquired in May of this year by Demand Media, Inc., a new company headed by former MySpace.com chairman, and former CEO of Intermix Media, Richard Rosenblatt.

Demand Media has accelerated the growth of eNom's world-class domain and reseller platform both organically and through the acquisition of domain registrar Bulk Register. This resulted in eNom becoming the world's second-largest domain name registrar, with over 8 million domains on its platform.

Demand Media is also expanding its media properties via the recent acquisition of Hillclimb Media, a developer of premium pay-for-content websites for sports enthusiasts, including Trails.com and Golflink.com. These web sites will join Demand's other media assets, including eHow.com, an expansive web site covering hundreds of different topics.

"As the media landscape continues to evolve, consumers and businesses alike will require more than just online 'billboards'," said Rosenblatt. "Domains are the building blocks of media properties and with the right content strategy, they become extremely valuable advertising and media assets."

"Inc. Magazine's recognition is an incredible distinction for the company I started in my garage in 1997 with one small computer on an ISDN line," said Paul Stahura, eNom founder and CEO and president and chief operating officer of Demand Media. "Our growth is due in no small part to our commitment to providing the most stable, flexible and advanced domain name technology platform in the industry, while remaining the low cost provider."

eNom (www.enom.com) is an ICANN accredited registrar offering world-class Internet domain name services at competitive prices. In business since 1997, eNom specializes in domain name registration and related services, and is the #1 reseller registrar, according to Name Intelligence(R), with the largest and most active distribution network in the domain industry. eNom currently ranks as the second largest domain name registrar worldwide.

Launched in May 2006, Demand Media is building the next-generation of web media companies where content creation and publishing costs are immaterial, traffic is acquired for free, and advertising sales becomes automatic, recurring and predictable.

Today, Demand Media receives more than 35 million unique visitors per month through its niche content web sites and more than 250,000 domain names. Demand Media's traffic is organic and its content proprietary, user generated and viral, allowing for a unique, targeted and effective marketplace for both users and advertisers. Demand Media is headquartered in Los Angeles with offices in San Francisco and in Seattle where its world-class registrar, eNom, and technology resources reside.
