NeuStar Extends Relationship Providing DNS Service for Hong Kong's Internet Infrastructure

March 27, 2007; 12:36 AM

NeuStar, Inc. (NYSE: NSR), a leading provider of essential clearinghouse and directory services to the global communications and Internet industry, announced that it has been awarded a two-year extension of its contract to provide Secondary DNS services for .HK, Hong Kong's top-level Internet domain (TLD). The Hong Kong Internet Registration Corporation, Ltd. (HKIRC) is responsible for the management of the TLD. The original contract was executed in November 2005.

"By implementing the NeuStar platform for Secondary DNS, HKIRC is able to achieve a cost-effective global network presence that delivers superior reliability and scalability," said Jonathan Shea, chief executive officer at HKIRC. "Additionally, the software code diversity of the NeuStar solution provides significant redundancy and protection for .HK as we maintain registry operations in conjunction with NeuStar's managed network."

NeuStar's Managed DNS Service allows HKIRC to maintain a global network presence while also providing the network and software diversity that HKIRC requires. This level of diversity is critical to providing a 100% reliable DNS infrastructure to ensure that all user requests for information within .HK are handled in the most efficient and effective manner. Additionally, due to the advanced routing provided by NeuStar Ultra Services, NeuStar is able to route DNS queries to the closest server in the global infrastructure, thus enabling the fastest responses possible for end users querying the .HK TLD.

"NeuStar is proud to continue its relationship with HKIRC in support of creating a more secure and more stable online experience for Hong Kong's Internet community," said Ben Petro, senior vice president of NeuStar Ultra Services. "NeuStar is a recognized leader in providing interoperability and security services to the global Internet community, and we power over 20 global country code and generic TLDs. With the proliferation of network threats and attacks, safeguarding a country's DNS infrastructure is critical -- and NeuStar takes this responsibility seriously. NeuStar continues to innovate and grow to support mission-critical networks and the evolution of the Internet infrastructure."
