ICANN Selects Terremark to Host Critical Internet Infrastructure

April 8, 2008; 10:08 AM

MIAMI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Terremark Worldwide, Inc. (NASDAQ:TMRK), a leading global provider of IT infrastructure services, today announced that the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) has selected to house its second instance of the Global L-Root server cluster at Terremarks flagship facility, the NAP of the Americas.

ICANN is responsible for the global coordination of the Internet's system of unique identifiers like domain names (like .org, .museum and country codes like .uk) and the addresses used in a variety of Internet protocols that help computers connect to each other over the Internet.

Because of the importance of ICANN in relation to the Global Internet Community, it has become critical for us to house our Global Root Domain Name System infrastructure in a secure and reliable facility that will provide us with greater accessibility as the Internet community continues to grow, said John Crain, Chief Technical Officer for ICANN. Terremarks NAP of the Americas is our facility of choice with its access throughout North America, Latin America, the Caribbean, and Europe.

Terremark will provide ICANN with peering and colocation services. As a result, ICANN will be able to greatly enhance global access to the L-Root servers, while also enhancing its ability to mitigate distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks on the core of the Internet.

We are extremely proud to welcome ICANN to our list of customers and provide them with the essential services they need to operate, said Manuel D. Medina, Terremarks Chairman and CEO. Terremark shares ICANNs dedication to preserving the operational stability of the Internet and we look forward to working together to ensure uninterrupted service to many of the worlds Internet users.
