ICANN Selects Terremark to Host Critical Internet Infrastructure

MIAMI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Terremark Worldwide, Inc. (NASDAQ:TMRK), a leading global provider of IT infrastructure services, today announced that the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) has selected to house its second instance of the Global L-Root server cluster at Terremark’s flagship facility, the NAP of the Americas.

ICANN is responsible for the global coordination of the Internet's system of unique identifiers like domain names (like .org, .museum and country codes like .uk) and the addresses used in a variety of Internet protocols that help computers connect to each other over the Internet.

Terremark will provide ICANN with peering and colocation services. As a result, ICANN will be able to greatly enhance global access to the L-Root servers, while also enhancing its ability to mitigate distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks on the core of the Internet.
